Women in Indian Air Force
SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION FOR WOMEN
The IAF, for long a male bastion, has played a pioneer role in the induction of women into the officer cadre of the force. Women have always played a very active, though indirect role as Air Force wives in maintaining the high morale of the IAF. Their path breaking induction in a combatant role in the Flying, Technical and Ground Duty branches have only reinforced the image of the Indian Air Force as a forward looking, progressive and futuristic Air Force.
